Dreaming about revival is a whole lot different than living in revival. Just like dreaming is a whole lot different than living your dream.
What is revival? A friend of mine, John Goyette, wrote an amazing book called, "The Power of Return." In it he says that revival is two parts. The first is when the people of God return to Him. The second is when God responds to His people. I believe John got it right. Over the last five or six months we have been drawing closer and closer to God, not out of an obligation or a hope that He would do something, but, simply a greater love for God and His presence. Then one a weekend about four weeks ago God showed up. Another friend of mine, Keith Luker, a prophet, worshipper, kingdom kind of guy came and felt like God wanted to release revival and He did. We felt God's pleasure through His presence. This has been and continues to be the single most amazing time I have ever witnessed in ministry. Not just one or two people are affected, but the overall atmosphere of this group of believers has changed. Rather than ministry being a struggle and strain, it has become joy filled, and exciting. The momentum is increasing as God's presence is increasing. I get up in the morning and can't wait to see what God is going to do next. What kind of miracle I am going to hear about this week... financial breakthrough, tumors disappear, cancer eradicated, family's restored. What will happen next? I am not sure. But the anticipation is exciting.
The best part is that it is God's pleasure to bring revival to all of His people. I don't think it is a freak thing, or anomaly. It should be what we all experience. Revival should move us into the place of tremendous blessing to show that our God is truly awesome and that He is deeply, head-over-heels in love with His people.
I have heard someone say, "I have been born for a time like this." Well, I have dreamed of a time like this and Lord what a privilege to live in a time like this...
